  • When it comes to our mental health, we should have a variety of tools in our toolbox at all times. SImilar to physical health, where you may decide to go for daily walks, have a gym membership, a personal trainer, a diet and nutrition plan, annual wellness checks with a physician, and more. Therapy and coaching are two different tols, and at times you may need one, the other, or both.
  • I am a huge proponent of therapy, and have had chapters in my life where therapy was a bigger part of my recipe. I needed to go backwards and uncover and process past traumas. I needed to be told that I had PTSD (for example, and anxiety, and that my nervous system was crashing. I needed to be able to talk about anti-depressant options and concerns.
  • For me personally, coaching was introduced when I had reached a point where I was more interested in looking forward than looking back. I wanted to take charge and transform and be proactive vs. reactive. I actually started asking my therapist for homework : )
    This was the impetus for me pursuing the training I needed as a coach and medical provider, and building the program I wish I had access to when I needed it most.
  • Currently, health and wellness coaching is considered a Category 3 healthcare service. Which means that your insurance MAY cover it, but not likely. More on this HERE.
  • As a Category 3 service, you do have the option to pay for coaching with an FSA or HSA account if you have one. Simply take this form (Link – to attachment) to your primary healthcare provider, and explain why you feel coaching is helpful for your and your overall health.
  • It is important to note that not all health and wellness (or “life”) coaches are Board Certified through the American Medical Association, which means they would not be able to accept HSA/FSA funds. But I am! My medical provider number is listed on the attached form.

We want to make access to coaching and mental health resources accessible for everyone that needs it (so, everyone!).
